![]() ![]() While the final plan needs more work, Gottlieb ran through the direction for the final set of recommendations, including setting a goal for the county to seek half of all capital costs for the Cape’s wastewater cleanup from state and federal sources. In that vote, Niedzwiecki and Gottlieb were tasked to “undertake an evaluation of the options for regionalization and to develop draft legislation to implement the required changes.” In accepting, they committed to quarterly updates. Last February, the county commissioners unanimously approved a motion supporting “the investigation of the creation of a regional wastewater entity capable of solving the Cape's wastewater. ![]() This week’s preview came as part of the quarterly wastewater planning update presented by Niedzwiecki and Cape Cod Water Protection Collaborative Executive Director Andrew Gottlieb. More is expected to be unveiled after next week’s three-day wastewater management conference sponsored by the Cape Cod Commission, EPA, DEP and Water Alliance. That was among the representations from Cape Cod Commission Executive Director Paul Niedzwiecki during an update to county commissioners. The Cape could be seeing a “confluence of events” that could see a plan to clean up and pay for its wastewater needs “that has never been seen before.” ![]()
